Madrid Fashion Week: Bring on the Men

In America, we often think of New York, London, Milan and Paris as the hubs of fashion, but it would be naive to discount the numerous other offerings that many an international city has to contribute. Exotic locales from Shanghai to Stockholm now have catwalks, front-rows and fabulous parties to prove that they, too, are in the game. Out's friend Carole Pope was granted entre to this exciting world when her pal (and contributor to the infamous blog A Shaded View on Fashion, curated by Diane Pernet) Glenn Belverio took her all around Madrid's Fashion Week.

Standouts on the runway were Agatha Ruiz De La Prada's quirky geometric Technicolor designs meanwhile David Elfin re-imagined the eighties with bondage inspired cutouts. The highlight of Roberta Verino's collection was scuba gear and a spear gun covered in Swarovski crystals. Francis Montesinos' thirty-minute show was a whimsical, trippy extravaganza featuring models wrapped in macrame-inspired knits and flowing fabrics.

While that sounds fabulous and all, we thought that we'd share some of our favorite looks with you, shown above. Sometimes, the less fashion you wear, the more appetizing you can be.
