For the Win! Billy Reid Takes Top Honor for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award

Well, well, well, this has been quite an extraordinary year for Mr. Billy Reid. The southern gentleman, who's masculine, charming and incredibly well-crafted clothing has taken the top prize at this year's CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. In addition to a trophy, the designer will also be taking home $300,000 to help aid in the growth of his business. Runner-ups are jewelry designer Eddie Borgo and womenswear designer Prabal Gurung (an Out 100 nominee, this year), who each take away $100,000 (not to shabby, if you ask us).

Regardless, this is terrific to hear that Reid is getting some notice, as he's incredibly talented but flies under-the-radar for the most part. It could be, in part, due to the fact that although his designs are incredibly urbane and sophisticated, his operations are based out of Florence, Alabama, making him one of those rare birds who juggle success in major metropolises, but keeps his roots in the sticks. This prize, too, comes on the heels of him winning the GQ Best New Menswear Designer of the Year back in February, and his critically acclaimed showing back in September. Congrats!
