Gay Agenda: New Year’s Eve at The Standard WeHo

Trying to drill down on which of the myriad New Year's Eve celebrations to attend is like being forced to choose between a night out with Madonna, Lady Gaga or Nicki Minaj. And if you're like us, we've been waiting to make that Sophie's choice. How the hell do you choose? Well, in Los Angeles, we'll make it a bit easier for you: Make your New Year's arrangements at The Standard West Hollywood.

What we've come to love about The Standard brand is that, well, it's nothing but. It doesn't set the bar, it simply is the bar when it comes to cool and chic. And, let's be honest, when your plan is to raze the bar (and lift a glass or two at the stroke of midnight), is there any spot you'd rather be than poolside, L.A.'s gay mecca sprawling below, rocking your heart out to performances by Danish neo-60s surf-rock duo The Raveonettes (above) and hometown alt-rock duo Autolux? In addition to the champagne toast at the stroke of midnight, The Standard will throw in a DJ set by George Goodtimes from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM and the meticulous ear of Droog DJ Collective, curator of The Standard's summertime pool parties. School Night reigns over the hotel's Purple Lounge. Perhaps the best news of all is that The Standard has saved you from the mortal decision between your three favorite pop mavens because all three ladies are sure to be in heavy rotation throughout the evening. No cover with RSVP; free toast champagne at midnight.
