Truman Says

Stefano Pilato Out at YSL?

Another season, another rumor about designer Stefano Pilati leaving YSL. This time the rumor's genesis comes in the form of an 140 character blurb from @KenzoPR: Just heard BIG news about this being a certain designer at a French house's last season and being replaced by someone major!! Oy! We're getting news from Twitter now?

We all know you'll have to pry Chanel out of Karl Lagerfeld's dead hands, and Galliano has been a fixture at Dior for a long time with no major drama, so that would lead everyone to think that perhaps Pilati is on his way out. While YSL always sells, critics have been particularly harsh on the designer for the past few seasons. Could this be the year that YSL finally gets a new designer? If so, who will that replacement be? Also courtesy of @KenzoPR: CEO has just left now designer replaced by someone who has moved away from design the past couple of yrs but stayed in fashion

As Racked notes, this sounds an awful lot like Hedi Slimane, who basically recreated the nineties' bulky, baggy silhouette into the skinny, lean one that is still au courant today. After he left Dior Homme, he has been using his free time to explore the world of photography -- but it appears that maybe he'll be back as role of designer soon enough? As usual, this could all be Fashion Week fodder -- but interesting if it's true.

We'll keep you updated if anything else is announced.......
