Brooklyn-based duo Joanna Katcher (right) and Maia Macdonald (left) -- aka Mitten -- wrote the songs on their debut EP, See You Bye, via email. Katcher would send Macdonald a bit of music and a few hours later she'd send the vocals back. The two continued this way until they had built enough shimmering electro-folky songs to put out the EP and begin playing around NYC in earnest (along with percussionist Ryan Fitch in tow) and now they're storming the city's indie music scene.
We caught up with Mitten to chat about how they got their curious name, being queer musicians, and more:
