Trend Spotting Spring 2012: Prints Charming

Woah! Looks like designers have tired of playing it safe and ditched the minimalist vibe of the last few seasons. Sure, bold, monochromatic fabrications in classic shapes (like outerwear and suiting at Jil Sander and Burberry) were a huge fall trend, but it seems that the general consensus in Milan -- which, by the way, is typically quite conservative -- is to embrace bold, decorative patterns. Labels like Prada, Burberry and D&G seem to be urging you to add some spice to your ensemble below the waist while keeping it simple (or just plain shirtless) on top. Florals, paisleys, ikats were shocking at first, but now that we're a few days deep, we're raising an eyebrow to any designer who isn't showing a bold printed pant. Next spring, get ready to be all-business up top and a party monster on the bottom.
