Tennis Love: US Open Inspires Nike and Ralph Lauren

So the US Open is under way, but please excuse us if we're not up to snuff on all our trivia -- we're not huge tennis junkies over here. Things we know about tennis are limited to the fact that Anna Wintour is a big fan, today is Andy Roddick's birthday, and tennis players love Lacoste. But two other labels are showing their love of the game with special collections designed with the sport in mind. First up is Ralph Lauren's offering. Lauren has long been associated with both preppy and sporty wares, so this collection, filled with classic polo shirts, cotton-cashmere sweater vests, tennis shoes and accessories all lend itself perfectly to the US Open vibe. You can check it out more closely here.

In addition to Ralph Lauren, the gang over at Nike has also entered the tennis game by adding stylish details to their apparel and accessories originally designed with top tier athletes in mind. This melding of form and function is only available at the world's first and only stand alone Nike Sportswear retail space here in New York (located at 21 Mercer Street), starting today. You can sneak a peek at some of the wares in the pictures below, modeled by none other than the uber-sexy Rafael Nadal. Either way you look at it, the US Open is sure looking like a win-win situation for shoppers.
