This weekend a more high profile late night musical performance may have been a let down, but there was still some undeniable brilliance mixed into the controversy. Closing out the holiday festivities on Monday night the ethereal Annie Clark, better known by her rocker alter ego St. Vincent, took to the stage of late-night ginger comedian Conan O'Brien. Armed with a guitar, a haunting voice and a hot drummer, St. Vincent made it clear she knows how to entertain.
There to promote her latest album Strange Mercy by performing the catchy new single Cheerleader, she took to the stage and let us know she is not kidding around when she sings that she doesn't want to be our cheerleader anymore! Ok, Annie, we get it!
While the performance misses out on a premium opportunity to tastefully show off hunky dancers in football uniforms (come on, that would have been so perfect!), St. Vincent's vocal power and haunting presence make it worth checking out. Check out the video clip below.
