Tennis titan to trade prowess on the court for finesse on the 'DWTS' stage
Sherri Shepard and Melissa Gilbert, get ready to work!
Because one of the fiercest and most tenacious athletes to ever capture the imagination of sports lovers everywhere--and then come out as a lesbian on top of that, and in 1981!--is about to become your worst nightmare.
We heard tell from Advocate.com that Queen of the court, Martina Navratilova, will be joining the cast of the upcoming season of ABC series Dancing with the Stars. And, if memory serves, she is a force to be reckoned with.
One of the most decorated tennis players in world history, Navratilova is still in impeccable shape at 55. She will no doubt bring her ferocity and drive to win to the DWTS stage and we could not be more thrilled about it.
And, as reported in a 2011 profile in The Advocate, the tennis titan could use a solid year of good fortune since it was just back in 2010 that she went through a very public breakup, skirted death climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, and survived breast cancer.
