What does God sound like? Well, if you ask some people, God sounds like Kathleen Turner. And in her new film, The Perfect Family, the one-time star of Serial Mom is indeed a woman of God.
Turner plays Eileen Cleary, a suburban mom who gets nominated for Catholic of the Year and promptly realizes how not perfect her family--fuck-up son, lesbian daughter, drunk husband--might seem to those considering her. While none of those things strike us as being egregious offenses at all, we're certainly not being nominated for any religious awards.
But back to Kathleen. For all her attempts to make her family shape up--and those of her nemesis to destroy her--we're hoping that she realizes that a drunk husband can be fun, that her son is lovable despite his wayward behavior, and that her daughter seems awesome and happy with her ladypal and that the only approval she needs is her own. Then she can spend another 45 minutes saying "pussywillows" over and over and over again.
