Most Americans probably don't know who Robbie Williams is. But the 38-year-old Brit, a former boy band star, sometimes actor, tabloid target, and general heartthrob, is a fixture in his homeland's papers. In fact, Williams' life is so endlessly speculated about that in 2005 he won a libel case against papers that had reported (as others have wished) that he was gay.
Now, Williams is firing back at paparazzi photographers who recently ambushed him outside of a California lunch spot looking a bit more filled-out than they thought was proper. Smiling and wearing layers, Williams didn't necessarily look his trimmest, but these (seen here) were not exactly flattering photos. And besides, when you've been famous since you were 16, it's tough to look you're best as you're pushing 40.
"Dear Paparazzi (that ambushed our lunch at the weekend)," Williams wrote on his blog this week, "Thank you for your internationally syndicated horrid picture of me... Just to 'weigh' it up, here's me at home the next day."
Accompanying the post was this very pleasant to look at photo of a shirtless Williams, er, saluting the photogs who had chased him.
At first glance all we can think is, well, Take That.
