After being outed as transgender, Canadian finalist Jenna Talackova has been disqualified
In order to earn the prestigious title of Miss Universe, you need to be intelligent, dynamic, and a role model to the many young people who can relate to your story. Unfortunately, according to Canadian ruling, you must also be a "natural born woman."
Jenna Talackova found out firsthand when she was recently disqualified due to her gender reassignment surgery.
The Huffington Post reports, "According to a statement from Miss Universe Canada, Talackova was disqualified because 'she did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form.'"
But they insist they're not total jerks, adding, "We do, however, respect her goals, determination and wish her the best.'"
Talackova has previously discussed her sexual reassignment surgery, which took place when she was 19.
At this point, Miss Universe Canada has removed all photos of the Vancouver native from its website and another woman has taken her spot.
