All-around delightful MSNBC host/Rhodes scholar/proud lesbian/powerful gal Rachel Maddow has a new book out today and she has dedicated it to someone very, very dear to her. Aww, it must be her partner (you're thinking). Nope.
It is former vice president, recent heart transplant recipient, and all-around relatable dude Dick Cheney. That's right! Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power is inscribed to Mr. Cheney, along with the plea "Oh please let me interview you." Maddow told the New York Daily News she made the unexpected gesture because Cheney is "right at the center of what I write about."
Maddow fans shouldn't be surprised, though, since she's left the former Veep an open invitation to come on her show for some time now. And maybe now that she's dedicated an entire book to him, he will. But probably not.
