The musical based around hits from 1990s pop phenomenon The Spice Girls has been in pre production for months, leaving eager fans and theatergoers asking what the hold up is.
Today Page Six has confirmed the halt on the progression of the show is due to members Melanie Brown (Scary Spice) and Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice) not being able to agree on anything. Shocking, considering the powerhouse girl group is rumored to reunite for the 2012 Olympics in London this summer.
Judy Craymer, who was behind the mega-musical Mamma Mia! is producing, and Jennifer Saunders, who starred in every gay man's favorite British series, Absolutely Fabulous, is writing the show. Unfortuately, the plot has nothing to do with the actual careeer of the Spice Girls however; it would follow a mother who takes her daughter to a talent competition, all set to Spice Girls music.
According to the report a source said, "Even though they won't be in the show, they're supposed to be giving Saunders feedback and ideas. Melanie Brown[Scary Spice] and Melanie Chisholm[Sporty Spice] can't agree on anything, It's driving Jennifer crazy."
Meanwhile, Vicoria Beckham is unphased by the whole situation. "[Posh Spice] is busy with her fashion line, and just isn't as enthusiastic as the rest," it went on.
And who can blame her? She is married to David Beckham and has a very successful career in the fashion industry.
Hopefully they can all set aside their differences and find a little bit of leftover Girl Power to help them work out their issues.
