Carrie Brownstein To Release Memoir

'Portlandia' star and guitar goddess can also write!

We're still learning to share our affection for Carrie Brownstein with the outside world. After all, we've followed the Portlandia star and Wild Flag frontlady since before she was even in Sleater-Kinney, the indie rock band that rocketed her to (some kind of) stardom. In fact, as we're fond of telling people who like to prattle on about Portlandia, our favorite of Brownstein's work might be the early tracks from Excuse 17, a group she was in from 1995-1995. But that could all soon change, considering its been announced that Brownstein will pen a memoir for Riverhead Books.

"The book will be a series of chronological and inter-connected essays that will tell the story of my childhood and of my time playing music in Sleater-Kinney," Brownstein wrote to Out in an email. "It will also touch on Portlandia, living in the Pacific Northwest, and Wild Flag. As for why now? Now is as good a time as any!"

And we suppose it's just about time for us to learn to share.
