Montana Congressional Candidate Releases Marriage Equality Ad

Congressional Candidate Dave Strohmaier says he'll "protect everyone's right to liberty and happiness" once he's elected to Congress

When you think of Montana, what comes to mind?

Mountains? Empty space? Travels with Charley? (Steinbeck had a huge crush on Montana in that book.) Whatever it is, it's probably not marriage equality, right? Well, Congressional candidate Dave Strohmaier wants to change that.

Strohmaier, a progressive Democrat running for Montana's only House of Representatives seat, recently released a campaign video announcing his intention to fight for marriage equality at the state and national level. In the video, Strohmaier proclaims:

"In Congress, I'll protect everyone's right to liberty and happiness, and I'll support marriage equality. And you know what? It sure does annoy Republicans."

It's easy to think that Strohmaier is just pulling a stunt here, since he's sure to garner some national attention for supporting marriage equality in a historically-red state (not to mention in the nation-at-large). But maybe he really does want to fight for LGBT rights? After all, he did pass a non-discrimination ordinance in Missoula, Montana, where he is currently a City Councilman. In any case, it will be interesting to watch his campaign. Maybe he'll butt heads with conservative Montana politicians and we'll get some fireworks out of it!

Watch the campaign video below, and try not to throw shade at his Indiana Jones hat and Harry Potter glasses. Whoops, I guess I just did that for you!
