We love Ellen Barkin, but it's been hard to buy her right-wing, anti-PC Nana vitriol act on The New Normal--not because we don't know women who operate like that, it's just so obnoxiously cartoonish that it doesn't seem to stick. But the recent Democrats vs. Republicans speech (where Barkin calls the gay guys "left-wing nancy boys" among other insults) on the latest episode went some place that we never thought possible on a network sitcom, voicing the prejudices--and retaliatory remarks--that so many wish they could say but rarely do.
Even attacking Mitt Romney by name.
Although Anne Romney may enjoy Modern Family, we can't imagine she's a fan of this show. Watch the clip and you'll see what we mean.
