Lindsay Lohan says her last serious relationship was with DJ Samantha Ronson and it didn't work work because "two toxic people cannot be together."
The actress, who is undoubtedly smarting from the vicious reviews for the Lifetime bio Liz & Dick which some thought might lead to a professional comeback, tells US Weekly about her own tempestuous romance.
"I was bold enough to say, 'Yeah, I like a girl. And?' That put her in a situation where she was being attacked every day. "That's not fair. And what am I left with? Heartbreak," Lohan reveals, adding that Ronson was her last serious relationship.
Lohan also shares that the two have remained friends since ending their year-long on-again, off-again affair in 2009. "I needed to love myself first before I could be with anyone," she says. "And I was going through a lot. Two toxic people cannot be together. End of story. We're friends now. That's how it started, so I think that's what's meant to be."
