Comedian Ingrid Jungermann brings us a 'The Slope'-like web series, 'F TO 7TH'
It's finally here! Following the kickstarter campaign in October, we've been looking forward to the first episode of Ingrid Jungermann's new comedy web series, F TO 7TH. It feels like Christmas in January.
You might recognize Jungermann from her recent web series The Slope which she co-created with her friend Desire Akhavan (both were honored in the 2012 Out100). As the series about a lesbian couple living in Brooklyn's Park Slope wrapped up its second season, the "superficial, homophobic" characters broke up, leaving one of them to ask, "Why did I even bother becoming a lesbian, aren't we supposed to be best friends forever??"
F TO 7TH picks up right where The Slope left off. One half of the couple, (the half that would never "miss six, SIX" of her Park Slope Food Co-op shifts), goes on with her life, heads into middle-aged adulthood, and struggles to keep up with an evolving LGBTQ culture.
The first episode features our old-fashioned protagonist Ingrid caught in-between guest stars Michael Showalter (Wet Hot American Summer) and Isaiah Stokes competing over who is the better dog owner. Showalter greats Ingrid with a few pounds and punches, obviously eager to prove he's cool with the butch ladies; Isaiah offers monotone comments about her dog being insecure, and hilarity ensues.
As Ingrid writes in her Kickstarter campaign, "shows that deal with lesbian, intersex, and trans issues are still a rarity," and we're so glad this one got the financial support for a green light.
