The 'Glee' star says she's decided to end her marriage with Dr. Lara Embry
Good news mixed with bad. The 52-year-old Glee star (who was featured on a 2012 Out100 cover) recently joined the Broadway cast of Annie as the villainess Miss Hannigan and wowed audiences during this Sunday's Tony Awards with her song "Little Girls." But now we hear that Lynch's marriage Dr. Lara Embry, 44, is going to come to an end.
Lynch met Embry at a 2009 fundraiser in San Francisco. The two were married in 2010 in Sunderland, Mass., one of the three states at the time where same-sex marriages were recognized at the time. The New York Times ran a full-page Vows profile about the couple's nuptials in its Sunday Style section. "We are both fascinated by emotional experience and are essentially hopeful people, but that temperamentally we express it differently," Dr. Embry, a clinical psychologist told the Times. "I tend to be more calm and reserved, and Jane is not. She's expressive and exuberant and gregarious." They said their differing professions didn't cause any conflicts, especially during their long-distance relationship until they tied the knot. Embry's daughter, Haden, was described as "my greatest pleasure," by Lynch at a New York City event last March.
"Lara and I have decided to end our marriage," Lynch said in a statement released to People magazine. "This has been a very difficult decision for us as we care very deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter."
