It seems that the pride parade marches down Sesame Street
Bert and Ernie's "are they/aren't they" relationship has been a topic of speculation for decades. While Sesame Workshop maintains that neither Bert nor Ernie have a sexual orientation, 'cause they're puppets, we all know that they're more than just best friends and roommates.
Now the venerable weekly, The New Yorker, has weighed in on the debate. To commemorate the great gains made toward marriage equality, artist Jack Hunter, submitted his "Moment of Joy" cover, unsolicited to a Tumblr. It shows the pair snuggling on the couch as they watch the historic ruling on TV.
"It's amazing to witness how attitudes on gay rights have evolved in my lifetime," Hunter told the magazine's Culture Desk. "This is great for our kids, a moment we can all celebrate."
