Absurd 'Ex-Gays' Want To Show Their Shameful Pride

Do people claiming to be "cured" of homosexuality know the meaning of pride?

Apparently not content with simply shaming out and proud LGBT people, the "ex-gay" movement, a group of mostly right wing fundamentalists who believe people can "change" their sexuality, are now trying to organize an "ex-gay pride" parade.

"We're declaring July as the first Ex-Gay Pride month," Christopher Doyle, head of an organization called Voice of the Voiceless, told the Christian Post. According to Doyle, he and his cohorts have petitioned the White House to back their cause, but to no avail. Doyle claims the Obama Administration simply doesn't want to upset gay donors. "They're very interested in protecting the LGBT rights organizations and the LGBT community because they're getting a lot of money from them. [But] we're not going to wait for any president or any Congress to give us our rights."

Meanwhile, Doyle also says that happy homosexuals and their allies are "living in the Stone Age: "If they want to continue to live in the Stone Age and claim that people were born gay and they can't change, well, that's their choice, too, we're not going to wait for them." Yes, please don't wait for us, because you'll be waiting a long, looong time, honey.

Anyway, while he waits, Doyle and his colleagues are organizing an "ex-gay rally" in Washington DC on July 31st. The movement, he says, is trying to thwart sensible, medically-approved legislation that would ban "reparative therapy" for minors, which he claims are laws that take away people's rights. Of course others see it as a matter of protection: stopping people from entering into a dubious "therapeutic" practice that's proven to cause psychological and sometimes physical harm.

Doyle's sudden assertion of his pride and rights comes as Exodus International, once the leader in the ex-gay craze, apologized and closed up shop, well aware that its brand of religion-based hysteria does more harm than good.
