Over the weekend, Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton exploded into a heated feud. The former friends used Twitter to air outrage against one another.
The war of the tweets started on August 16 when Hilton live-tracked the chart position of Gaga's comeback single, "Applause." The blogger, who once sided with Gaga in a spat with Christina Aguilera, appeared to relish in the fact that the single was 'losing' to "Roar" by Katy Perry.
Within hours, Gaga responded with a tweet accusing Hilton sending a text with a picture of "me in a wheelchair w the words KARMA written across + Madonna pointing a gun at me."

As the exchanges continued, fans alerted Gaga that Hilton was in the lobby of the singer's apartment. The panic led Gaga to calling Hilton, in a since-deleted tweet, a stalker and demanding that he "LEAVE ME ALONE!!!"
By Sunday, Hilton responded with a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "My heart hurts that my former very good friend Lady GaGa, a person I used to call my 'wifey' and traveled the world with, is making very public and very untrue allegations about me on Twitter," Hilton said. He also noted an unspecified cause for the deep rift between the two personalities. ("While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life.")
Later that evening, Hilton addressed the stalking allegations by stating on his website that he was apartment hunting, which unknowingly led him to Gaga's building. What seemed like an honest mistake was not accepted by Gaga, who continued her Twitter tirade. Not one to back down from a fight, Hilton engaged and the two sparred for a half hour.

As of Monday morning, everything was quiet. Gaga's angry tweets appear to have been deleted. After retweeting Little Monsters' fan rage, Hilton was back to his celeb gossip, evening posting Gaga's new video. (Watch here.)
While Hilton is known for his takedowns of celebrities, his feud with Gaga was quite unexpected. What remains to be seen is what caused the rift between the two and if there's any room for reconciliation.
