The international trailer for the new season of Downton Abbey has been released (season 4 is set to premiere January 5, 2014, on PBS), and it's set to Joy Formidable's upbeat "Wolf's Law," which gives it a bit more joy than expected after the crushing finale of the last season.
While we have seen a few stills from the season (babies are certainly a theme), the trailer shows us a bunch of hand-wringing, tears, as well as a few stifled smiles. There's only a quick glimpse of gay valet Thomas (played by Out fave Rob James-Collier), but we do see a new black male character (another new American?) who seems to be sweet on that Bright Young Thing who spent last season looking for trouble. But no titillating teaser of Paul Giamatti.
Yes, all in all, this is a big tease--made for many repeat viewings.
