It's been months and months of anticipation, and now we're almost there. The theatrical release of Kill Your Darlings, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan as Beat boys, is only weeks away, set for October 16. In the October issue of Out, DeHaan shared intimate details about the intensity of the process, including their first on-screen kiss:
"We did it three times really fast," DeHaan says of their 11th-hour scene, which he hopes will be the second man-on-man lip-lock to win Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards (after Brokeback Mountain in 2006). "Then it was over, just like that. We looked at each other like, Holy shit. We just did it. Any time I have a love interest in a movie, it's my job to actually fall in love with them. While I was making this movie, I totally fell in love with Dan."
Speaking of sexual tension between two boys, there was quite a bit of homoerotic playfulness in The Place Behind the Pines, in which DeHaan played the child of real-life couple Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling, and his character had an unusual connection to the emotionally disturbed son of Bradley Cooper, played by Emory Cohen. Next up for DeHaan is something completely different: the Sept. 27 release of the thriller concert IMAX spectacle, Metallica: Through the Never. Watch that trailer below:
