Jamie Dornan photographed for Nov. 2006 issue of Out magazine
Jamie Dornan first caught the eye of legendary photographer Bruce Weber, and soon enough he was a featured model in Dior, Armani, and--how could we forget?--Calvin Klein underwear campaigns. Featured on the cover of Out in November 2006, on the eve of his role in Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, Dornan was quick to acknowledge the role that gay men--from photographers such as Carter Smith to designers like Hedi Slimane--had played in accelerating his career.
Now, with him starring as Christian Grey in the upcoming movie adaptation of the hugely popular50 Shades of Grey books, we remember when he said he had no problem being eye candy for both women and men: "I just love the attention!' I don't really mind where it comes from."
Thank, god, since he's certainly about to be picked apart every which way imaginable. Charlie Hunnam already dropped the role. And a fan-fueled campaign to get Matt Bomer was seemingly hellbent on derailing any sort of success. But it seems pretty certain the film's team is looking for a guy who appeals to both the ladies, the gay guys, and even the straight guys who can picture themselves as the ultimate sexy sadist.
We guess Dornan's fulfilled his wish, when he admitted: "I've already been dealt a lot of great hands and I just hope that will continue. As long as I don't do anything to fuck it up.'' We wish you luck, Jamie!
