What if the strange person your friend was blindly falling for started chopping up all your friends? That's the premise of You're Killing Me, a film in pre-production by Out.com columnist Jeffery Self and his cowriter Jim Hansen. In their hands, what initially reads like the description for a mumblecore slasher pic, will likely be a funny, bizarre, slasher pic, with plenty of references to celebrity women of a certain age.
From their fundraising site: "Our killer is welcomed into this world entirely because he is good-looking. They forgive his odd behavior, enjoy having an audience, and never once take him seriously. What begins as a bitchy, bitchin' good time quickly downspirals into a hellish dissection of staying aware." Cue the celebrity wisdom of Oprah (or was it Maya Angelou?): "People tell you who they are if you just listen.'"
The cast is full of all you favorite whatshername and whatshisname actors you've seen around film, TV, and the interweb: Drew Droege (witch / star of the Chloe videos), Jack Plotnick (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Mentalist), Matthew McKelligon (LOGO's Eastsiders), Edi Patterson (Californication, 2 Broke Girls), Bryan Safi (FunnyOrDie's "Throwing Shade"), Matthew Wilkas (Gayby, HBO's Looking), "and a few surprise vaudevillians."
They want your money to get this project off the ground, but they're offering some offbeat thank you items, including thank you credits, IMDb.com credits, Chloe compilations DVDs, walk-on extra roles ("bring your own crucifix"), Chloe clothes, or a date with Jeffery.
