Jason Collins Covers Time's 100 Most Influential People Issue
Out NBA basketball player, Jason Collins, joins the list of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People. In a profile by Chelsea Clinton, who first met him when they were both college freshmen, describes Collins as "a leader and an inspiration." But her admiration doesn't stop there.
"Jason's kindness and fierceness alike derive from that word too often bandied about and too rarely true: integrity. Jason has always maintained he's first a basketball player. He is. But he's also a leader and an inspiration. For Michael Sam, Derrick Gordon and others whose names we may never know. And also for those of us lucky enough to be fans -- or to call him our friend."
Collins is joined by other notable members of the LGBT community, including film producer Megan Ellison.
Also on the list and sharing one of the covers is Out's definition of power, Beyonce. The singer scored another media coup with her second major cover for the month of May.
