Spotlight On the Homostoner Lifestyle

Carlos and John are boyfriends and have a shared Instagram called Jarlos420 that's sort of about the homostoner lifestyle.

"Carlos and John also model together sometimes as out gay boyfriends," Jacob Brown, who created the video, explains. In fact, the couple also participated in a huge national fashion brand's ad campaign and are in the pictures as boyfriends. "To me they also really embody the younger generation of gay identity. They've never really been closeted. Their sexuality is clearly a big part of them, but it's never been a huge source of conflict--a fact that I think colors the younger generation's lives."

Brown says it was the guys who came to him, asking if he would work on a film with them dealing with their relationship and weed. "We talked for a few weeks," Brown explains, then in April, "They were like, 'Duh, it's 420 this weekend," so they shot the scenes.

"The Idea behind the film is that marijuana is an aphrodisiac," he says. "The versions of themselves are brought together romantically via smoking. And then, at the end, it's ambiguous whether it was all real or just a stoned out dream."
