Fans of the novel The Giver were none-too-pleased when the first trailer was released earlier this spring. They were bummed that it showed a world in color--since the world is seen in black-and-white through the main character's eyes for a period of the book. Well, trying to rectify that issue, this second trailer from The Weinstein Company, stays true to that--showing Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) as he starts to see the world in color.
Not familiar with the story? The big screen adaptation of Lois Lowry's best-selling young adult novel about a dystopian world devoid of color where everyone is given a specific role to play. One day, a one young boy named Jonas meets The Giver (Jeff Bridges), a man in charge of the community's memories. Sound simple enough (or a little like The Matrix)? Soon afterward, he slowly starts seeing the world as it really is. The film opens August 15 and also stars Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes, Alexander Skarsgard, and Taylor Swift.
