Hedwig and the Angry Inch took home four awards

Hedwig and the Angry Inch had no reason to be mad during the 68th annual Tony Awards, which were hosted by Hugh Jackman and broadcast live on CBS Sunday, June 8.

Neil Patrick Harris, a recent Out cover star, won the Tony for Best Actor in a Musical for his role as Hedwig. Harris gave the most rousing performance of the evening when he took to the stage for "Sugar Daddy" and, in character as Hedwig, licked Samuel L. Jackson's eyeglasses, gave a lap dance to Sting, and then gave a big sloppy smooch to fiance David Burtka. He also gave a moving acceptance speech (in which he seemed to be saying he wouldn't be in the role much longer).

Harris beat out Ramin Karimloo for Les Miserables, Andy Karl for Rocky, and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder stars Jefferson Mays and Bryce Pinkham.

Lena Hall earned the Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Musical as Yitzhak, Hedwig's husband and backup singer, who's desperate to unleash his inner drag diva. The show's Kevin Adams also won Best Lighting Design of a Musical. The show's original cast recording will be released next month.
