While there are a few gay characters in the long-running graphic novel series, The Walking Dead, only one has made it onto the TV version. (That would be Tara Chambler played by Alanna Masterson.) With so few LGBT characters on the series, fans have been wondering if Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) might be the next person to come out.
When Comicbook.com asked series creator Robert Kirkman about this, he responded directly to the possibility of Dixon being gay:
"All I can say is that it's been discussed. We have very specific ideas about Daryl's sexuality (or the seeming lack thereof), and if there's ever a quiet period in the show where he's not consistently distracted by crossbowing... we'll tackle it in the show."
So if Dixon came out, AMC would be okay with it? "For the record, they absolutely would."
Let's just say, we have no problem with Reedus playing gay.
The Walking Dead returns with season 5 on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 9 pm EST.
