Steven Soderbergh tweeted a shot of the Magic Mike XXL clapperboard over the weekend, writing: "It's ON!"
While he directed the original male stripper flick penned by Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin, Soderbagh has passed the director's torch to his Gregory Jacobs (who collaborated with Soderbergh on Side Effects, Behind the Candelabra and the Oceans film franchise).
"I want to be there, but I don't want to be the director," Soderbergh explained in GQ's June cover story. "I want to be a part of it. I want to be in the band, but I just don't want to be the frontman this time." It turns out he's signed on as XXL's director of photography, camera operator and film editor.
