The film star, producer & gadfly is helping bring a classic to cinemas

Directed by Anna D. Shapiro and produced by David Binder (the man behind Hedwig and the Angry Inch's Broadway revival), the Broadway revival of the John Steinbeck classic Of Mice and Men is a celebrity-filled sensation, starring Golden Globe winner and professional slacker James Franco (This is the End, Spring Breakers, Pineapple Express) alongside BAFTA and Tony Award nominee Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids, IT Crowd).

The show's a certified hit, grossing over $1 million during the final week of its limited 19-week engagement with Manhattan's Longacre Theatre. Now, with the help of National Theatre Live, the show has international ambitions. Since 2009's production of Phedre starring Helen Mirren, National Theatre Live has helped bring live performances of classic plays to over 3 million people worldwide.

The show is set to be broadcast on on November 6th. In addition, National Theatre Live plans to bring a number of other classics, such as the Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire and the Byrony Lavery adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island to cinema screens as well.
