Is Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Capt. Ray Holt the most terrifying man on television? Besides Abby Lee Miller, yes. But actor Andre Braugher, who returns as the 99th Precinct's stoic, gay commanding officer in the show's season 2 premiere (September 28 on Fox), is a big ol' softie. At least when talking about his cast mates. We wondered if it was boring being serious while Andy Samberg and company are goofing off around him, and he showed some serious emotion.
"It's delightful! On drama projects, people are always trying to get into character and it's fraught," Braugher explains. "But every relationship needs a kite and a string. They need their straight man. I relish being the string for all these beautiful kites."
