Charlie King, a former cast member of UK "scripted reality" show The Only Way Is Essex (read:about as real as The Hills), revealed this morning that he's, in fact, gay. King sat down with Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden of ITV's This Morning to talk about his coming out.
"It was something I had to address and it's taken me a good few years to kind of get here now and say, 'I'm Chalie. I'm 29-years-old. I'm a gay man and I'm very comfortable with that,'" said the TOWIE star.
King's sexuality was a major part of his storyline on the show and he had insisted that he was straight. He was only able to come to terms with his sexuality when he was dating a woman. "I had a girlfriend, she was the first person I spoke to and told," explained King. "It was a proper relationship but I was very aware when I was seeing her things weren't quite right. If something doesn't click, it doesn't click."
On twitter, King received and outpouring of support from fans worldwide. That being said, his ex-girlfriend, Gemma Collins, made sure to gloat. "I always SEE what other people don't and speak the TRUTH x," tweeted the TOWIE cast member.
King appeared in UK gay mag Attitude's latest "Naked Issue" this past February. We've got the photo below.
