After feasting during the holidays (and just ahead of Giving Tuesday and World AIDS Day), this event -- a seven-day, 545-mile bike ride fundraiser from San Francisco to Los Angeles -- is a prime opportunity to refocus on fitness while supporting a worthwhile cause. Next year's ride runs June 4 to 10.
More than 3,000 participants take this ride each year to raise funds for the Los Angeles LGBT Center and San Francisco AIDS Foundation to end the HIV epidemic. AIDS/Lifecycle raised a record $17.8 million in 2022. And it's "so much more than a bike ride," says Tracy Evans, AIDS/LifeCycle's ride director. "It is a week of love, joy, and community coming together to make the world a better place."
Want to get involved? Cyclists have a fundraising goal of $3,500 in order to earn their "ticket to ride" and secure their spot for the event. Volunteers can also participate as a "roadie" to help the cyclists along their journey or as a "home hero" to raise funds without traveling the trek. Learn more and register at AIDSLifecycle.org.
