EXCLUSIVE: A Year With Max of 'RuPaul's Drag Race'

Photographer Travis Chantar met season 7 queen Max Malanaphy and her creative director Daniel J. Green in early 2014 in Minneapolis, MN, through mutual admiration. "We spied each other on Facebook, and they invited me to a small gathering at Oz -- Max's underground apartment," Chantar says. "Upon arrival, I was hardly able to suppress my utter disbelief. Every inch of the place is covered in vintage trinkets and impeccably arranged glamorous doodads, colorful lights and lasers; it's a living museum.

"The creativity pouring from these two individuals is nothing short of magic, and we quickly became close," the photographer adds. "Eventually, our lengthy chats about culture and art morphed into creative play, and this joining of forces allowed me to shoot some of my favorite photographs."
