Sartori leaves Berluti for his former employer
Following the announcement of Stefano Pilati's departure as creative director of Ermenegildo Zegna, the Italian menswear brand revealed that Alessandro Sartori will be appointed to the newly-created position of artistic director of the house.
Sartori left Zegna in 2011 to become the artistic director of luxury shoe brand Berluti. This return feels like a homecoming for the designer, who began his career at Zegna in 1989, soon after graduating from school in Milan, and progressed to become creative director of Z Zegna, the company's more fashion-forward sister label.
He will now oversee not only Z Zegna, but also the ready-to-wear and runway Couture labels of the house, but we'll have to be patient to see Sartori's first full season, slated to debut at Milan Fashion Week in January 2017.
