The Gucci revamp now counts Beyoncé and Gaga amongst its new fans
Waking up today feels like trying to get over a weird pop music hangover: What the hell happened this weekend?! There we were, nice and quiet, listening to Anti and trying to like it, when suddenly Queen Beyonce dropped her unannounced "Formation," which soon eclipsed everything else on the entertainment galaxy -- as it should.
In the epic video, directed by Melina Matsoukas, we noticed that Beyonce really took on the Gucci craze that's currently flooding front rows and red carpets around the world. Miss Carter wore Gucci in at least three tableaux in the video.
In the scenes depicting Beyonce overlooking a flooding NOLA, the singer is seen wearing a print shirt and skirt from creative director Alessandro Michele's spring-summer 2016 collection.
Then, in the "masquerade" section of the video, Beyonce wore a tulle gown from the same season. The male contingent of "Formation" is also wearing Gucci menswear, including stunning embroidered suits.
Queen Bey and her dancers are also clad in monogrammed Gucci bodysuits in the group dance scenes inside an empty swimming pool. Here's for your '90s throwback:
But our favorite look is probably the Gucci number Beyonce pulled the night "Formation" dropped. Here's Queen Bey casually attending a basketball game, in a lace Gucci top, oversized glasses, and the brand's latest "it-bag," the Dionysus GG.
You know, just your regular getup to go see a game incognito.
Later on Sunday, while people tuned in to watch Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, and the Denver Broncos warm up the crowd for Beyonce's half-time performance, we couldn't help but notice a gorgeous made-to-measure hibiscus lurex suit on Gaga -- also an Alessandro Michele creation.
As for the actual half-time show, its turns out that Beyonce wore a DSquared2 leather bodysuit, with gold belts embellishment channelling Michael Jackson's look during his own 1993 Super Bowl half-time performance. Uptown funker Bruno Mars wore Versace, and Coldplay wore... jeans and T-shirts with floral stickers. Cute.
