The Bajan beauty teams up with Dior on some futuristic eyewear
Rihanna doesn't need to do anything to prove her style icon status. I mean, when you get a CFDA "Fashion Icon" award from Anna Wintour herself, you're in. Logically, the next step for RiRi was to bring her unique fashion flair to the masses and start creating her own clothes and accessories.
She did, received rave reviews from the press and the industry for her Puma collaboration, and for her towering stilettos boots, which she designed with Manolo Blahnik. Now, Rihanna enters the luxury eyewear business with a new line of sunglasses she created for Dior.
Last year, Rihanna became Dior's first black muse (when Raf Simons was still the creative director of women's collections), and in her second-ever campaign for the brand, she takes charge, modeling her own line of retro-futuristic eyewear.
Simply named "Rihanna", the collection features six different colors of frames and lenses. The slick campaign was shot by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, a Madonna favorite who directed her "Justify My Love" video (warning, sensitive content!).
The line will be sold exclusively at Dior stores from early June. The silver, pink, blue, green, and red styles will retail for a mere $840, while the deluxe 24-karat gold-plated version, sported by Rihanna on her Instagram, will set you back $1,950.
