Haring’s iconic drawings, now on footwear and glasses
Right in time for Pride, footwear and eyewear brand Toms has teamed up with the Keith Haring Foundation to create a line of print sneakers and glasses adorned with the artists' colorful figure drawings.
Haring's designs are featured on a selection of shoes, from Toms's signature canvas slip-on ($59), to classic sneakers ($69), to high-tops ($89). The glasses come in two styles: a square frame ($189), and a round optical frame complete with a clip-on ($219, pictured below). Both have branches subtly embellished with Haring drawings.
Keith Haring, who died of AIDS in 1990, began painting in the New York subway, and then became widely recognized for his art and social activism during the '80s -- his work is still on view at the LGBT Center of New York. These kicks and frames are a way like any other to pay tribute to one of our community's most adored creative geniuses.
