Diesel Black Gold goes back to basics. For spring 2017, creative director Andreas Melbostad wanted to pay tribute to the origin of denim, with a collection heavily influenced by workwear. "I got inspired by the black and white images shot between 1950 and 1951 by Irving Penn, and collected in his Small Trades book" Melbostad said in his design notes.
In Small Trades, Penn travelled across London, Paris, and New York to photograph a variety of small business owners, from butcher to fishmongers to chimney sweepers, dressed in their work clothes. This collection pays tribute to those men, with a heavy dose of leather and denim. Check out the models getting ready backstage.
