WVB's spring-summer 2017 collection takes inspiration from Alice in Wonderland
Never one for subtlety, Walter Van Beirendonck's Alice in Wonderland-inspired collection is an extreme exploration of color, texture, and opacity. Beirendonck brought his signature splashes of bright color to the table, pairing sheer whites and furry tans with pops of primary shades evocative of children's toys. Complete with half-fros and flowing ribbons, the line is certainly a wonder to behold.
Beirendonck has been exploring darkness through the lens of whimsy for several seasons -- in the past, he's focused on the danger of our perpetual proximity to cameras. Now he comments on the tragic state of our planet through fun flowery prints and shaggy bodysuits.
Thought far from ready-to-wear, we're excited by the metallics, interesting odes to bondage, and overall freshness of this collection. Beirendonck has never shied away from risk, and this collection is no exception. He pulls off avant-garde with colorful, breathtaking brilliance.
