8 Trans Trailblazers Unite to Fight Gender Based Violence
Worldwide, the life expectancy of trans women is 35-years-old and, for trans women of color, that number is even lower. It's a stark reality, but it's a reality that organizations like the United Nations are fighting back against.
To coincide with the UN Women's global "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" campaign that used the color orange to raise awareness about gender-based violence, Norwegian-born and London-based photographer Eivind Hansen enlisted the help of eight transgender activists for a new series as part of the Orange the World initiative.
In the series, Munroe Bergdorf, Kuchenga, Shon Faye, Faye Dickinson, Rhyannon Styles, Charlie Craggs, Chloe Fiilani, and Paris Lees came together for an orange, flower-filled shoot with Hansen and florist James Buswell.
