The early '00s airport shoe has been redesigned by Jeremy Scott.
When designers as varied as urbane intellectual Phillip Lim and flashy showman Jeremy Scott settle on the same inspiration at the same time, it's worth taking note. That this muse happens to be the California brand Ugg--best known for furnishing Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan with their airport shoe of choice in the early '00s--makes it all the more fascinating.
Scott, naturally, has taken a playful approach, emblazoning the fleece-lined, mid-shin slip-ons with flames ("That's fire!" your teenage relatives will no doubt exclaim approvingly) as well as the motto ugg life, written in gangster-worthy Gothic script. Meanwhile, Lim has kept things understated, unveiling four new styles for the season, including boots with zippers up the center and a two-toned pair that looks like a modern twist on spats.
The collaborations are in line with fashion's recent love of a throwback (the '90s have been especially ripe for rediscovery these days). Either way you're feeling this fall--saucy or slyly subdued--a pair of Uggs might just be that blast from the past you're looking for.
