Björk’s Custom Gucci Dress From 'The Gate' Took 870 Hours to Make
Earlier this week Bjork released the scintillating, fantastical video for "The Gate," replete in an iridescent custom Gucci dress. As the Icelandic singer is surrounded by darkness, the only illumination comes from a beacon of light she passes through herself and a hollow, humanoid figure. All the while the frills and pleats of the intricate gown shimmer, appearing to move on their own.

According to tweets from Gucci, the dress, designed by the brand's creative director, Alessandro Michele, took 870 hours to make. The bulk of that time, approximately 550 hours, was spent on the dress itself, with the remaining 320 spent on embroidering pearls and crystals to the prismatic garment.
"The Gate" is the lead single off Bjork's upcoming album, Utopia, due out in November.
