Linder's Summer Collection is an Ode to the 'Desire to be Loved'
For Linder's menswear designer Kirk Millar, the question of how to follow up his emotionally raw ode to coming out for the Fall '18 collection earlier this year came in the form of his great great grandmother's scrapbook and a yearning for connection. "I had thought about the relationship to coming out and the questions that come up with parents about whether they'll have grandkids or if you'll get married," he explained. "I wanted to touch on how, at least in my experience, you make your own rules and how you carry on your lineage in your own way."
To bring his vision to life, Millar created garments that created a kaleidoscopic collage of references that range from love letters and his Dutch lineage to drawings of dogs and florals cut from 1960s garden magazines. Blended together, Millar's understated and sensitive new collection is representative of the journey every gay man goes on.
