Desmond is Amazing: The Drag Kid That's Taking Over

Out featured the brilliant Desmond is Amazing in an original shoot a few months ago, but Photographer Aaron Williams is back this summer to inspire a new generation with his latest fashion shoot featuring the drag kid powerhouse.

"I ran across Desmond at this past PRIDE. He was a fixture on the scene. I was, at first, unsure of how to approach working with a 10-year-old child, but then once we met and he and his mom were on set, it was obvious that Desmond is evolved. It was a such a thrill and a real joy to work with Desmond. On one hand, he is completely self-aware. He knows when he's in front of the camera and when to 'turn on' and he knows when it's downtime. And on the other hand, he's still a 10-year-old boy wanting to go to the playground. It's wild.

I even cracked a joke to be careful on set because I didn't have liability insurance and he jumped off the flower, in a resigned voice, 'Oh, well, never mind then.' Then laughed at his own joke.

I mean... when I was 10, I was worried about burning the cake in my easy bake oven, whereas this child is a drag icon, fashion stylist, makeup artist, LGBTQ+ advocate and so much more. His style is his own. He creates what he wants and wears want he wants giving zero fucks to his haters. In this story, he's wearing every one from Moschino and Nicopanda, to David Dalrymple and Patricia Field."
