What happens when three beloved womenswear designers dive into the men's market? Only good things.
Studies show that men spend more money on clothing and accessories than women do, so it's no surprise that a clutch of treasured womenswear designers have set their sights on shaking up menswear. South Carolina native Jason Stalvey, of Stalvey, is famous for his luxe python-skin and 24-karat-gold bags, but in October he'll release his first complete men's collection through Moda Operandi -- an all-alligator line that includes a credit card case and a gym bag. That same month, Mansur Gavriel--a purveyor of sleek, Italian-produced leather goods -- releases a collection of men's coats, sweaters, and shoes. And few recent menswear debuts have made waves like Simon Porte Jacquemus's "Le Gadjo" collection. The French designer's collaboration with the Woolmark Company features 27 pieces in 100% merino wool. With their bright colors, oversize fits, and geometric patterns, they're the sort of statement pieces that belong in any modern, forward-thinking guy's wardrobe.
